About Us

I’m Paul Mitchell, the hands and heart behind Oki-Mitch Crafts. Living and working in beautiful Okinawa since 2010

My journey into woodworking started in middle school wood shop with a sign I created for my dad which still sits on his white oak desk today. While military taught me about construction, pouring concrete or laying asphalt; I have always valued wood’s ability to bring natural warmth and comfort to our lives.

I started building my own plagues for some of my troops while stationed in Okinawa and wanted to continue this tradition with my business. In a world of mass-produced items, I believe it’s important to take the time to know each customer hears their story designing the projects that fit their vision.  Whether it’s a family table, a personalized cutting board, going away gift, memento for a special occasion, outdoor furniture built, or unique decor inspired by Okinawa’s vibrant culture, each project is crafted with care, precision, and attention to detail.

I source quality lumber from local lumber yards in Okinawa or around Japan, as well as from American suppliers. Each piece has a durable finish, so your piece stands the test of time.

My Promise is that I will listen to your vision, offer suggestions based on my experience, and deliver something truly yours. Custom wooden crafts aren’t just objects, they create lasting memories, express individuality, and serve as reminders of our history together.

From my workshop in Awase, Okinawa, I’m excited to bring your ideas to life. Let’s make something beautiful together.
